It's graduation week at the US Naval Academy, and the freshmen (plebes) had one final test yesterday -- the Herndon Climb!
The plebes had to work as a team and boost a class member to the top of a 21-foot granite monument. And, um, the oblelisk is greased with 200 pounds of lard! Once at the top, they replace a plebe cap with a midshipmen (sophomore) cap. The Climb been an annual tradition at Annapolis for more than 100 years!
DC-based photographer Scott Henrichsen gives VGL this exclusive, up-close look at this year's event!
